Our Frenectomy Pricing, Process, and What to Expect Post-Release

If you've started researching tongue-tie treatment, you've probably noticed something confusing: one provider quotes a few hundred dollars, while another charges significantly more. Prices also significantly vary from state to state. It's natural to wonder whether you're paying for the same procedure or something entirely different.

The reality is that not all frenectomy treatment is the same. While every provider performs the release itself, the evaluation, treatment planning, technology, skill, follow-up care, additional services provided, and collaboration with other specialists can vary considerably from one practice to another. Those differences can have a meaningful impact on both the treatment experience and the results.

At Cusp Untethered, our goal is to provide transparent information before you schedule a reservation. In this article, we'll explain our consultation and treatment fees, walk through what happens during the process, discuss what recovery looks like, and explain why comprehensive care extends beyond the release itself.

Quick Overview

  • A frenectomy at Cusp Untethered begins with a $161 consultation, with laser frenectomy treatment priced at $780 per release when recommended.
  • The cost includes more than the procedure itself, with comprehensive evaluation, follow-up care, post-operative guidance, skill and continued training of the team, and photobiomodulation (PBM) therapy to support healing.
  • Successful outcomes depend on more than the release alone, which is why Cusp Untethered collaborates with lactation consultants, craniosacral therapists, myofunctional therapists, speech-language pathologists, and other specialists when appropriate.
  • Most frenectomy reservations include a comfort menu, functional assessment, laser treatment (when indicated), home care instructions, and scheduled follow-up visits to monitor healing and recovery.
  • Healing takes time, and improvements in feeding, speech, or oral function often continue as the body adapts and therapy supports new movement patterns.

Our Frenectomy Pricing and What's Included

Every child and adult has unique needs, which is why treatment always begins with a comprehensive evaluation before a frenectomy is recommended.

At Cusp Untethered:

  • Frenectomy consultation: $161
  • Laser frenectomy: $780 per release (labial or lingual). Buccal ties, when present, are treated as part of either procedure at no additional cost.

Rather than simply performing a release, Dr. Hamlin  and her team take time to evaluate how the restricted tissue is affecting function, discuss your symptoms or concerns, co providers assessments/recommendations, and determine whether a frenectomy is the most appropriate next step.

Treatment also includes much more than the procedure itself. Our approach focuses on supporting function before, during, and after the release through coordinated care and thoughtful follow-up. Dr. Hamlin personally follows up to check in on families post release as well.

Depending on your needs, your frenectomy treatment may include:

  • A comprehensive functional evaluation and comfort menu
  • Laser frenectomy treatment when appropriate
  • Detailed post-operative instructions and stretching guidance
  • Post op check in
  • Follow-up reservations to monitor healing
  • Needed post operative care products
  • Photobiomodulation (PBM) therapy during follow-up visits to support healing
  • Coordination and communication with lactation consultants, craniosacral therapists, myofunctional therapists, speech-language pathologists, chiropractors, bodyworkers, and other members of your care team when appropriate

Because every treatment plan is individualized, we'll review all recommendations and associated costs during your consultation so you know exactly what to expect before moving forward.

What Your Frenectomy Reservation Looks Like

Many people are surprised by how straightforward the reservation itself feels. Although every situation is unique, most visits follow the same general process.

Your reservation begins with a thorough consultation and functional evaluation. We'll discuss feeding concerns, speech or oral function, previous therapy, previous surgery/releases if any, symptoms, and any recommendations you've received from lactation consultants, pediatricians, or other healthcare providers. This evaluation helps determine whether a frenectomy is needed or whether additional therapies should be considered first.

If treatment is recommended, co-treatment providers have cleared release (ideally), and you choose to move forward, the laser frenectomy itself is typically completed during the same visit. Laser treatment allows for a precise release while minimizing bleeding and reducing trauma to the surrounding tissues.

Before you leave, we'll review your home care instructions, stretching exercises, and follow-up schedule. Just as importantly, we'll discuss the role that continued therapy may play in helping your child or family member develop new movement patterns to maintain range of motion after the restriction has been released.

Our philosophy is that a successful outcome doesn't depend solely on the procedure itself. It comes from combining a quality release with the education, follow-up, and collaborative care that supports long-term function and success.

What to Expect During Recovery

Recovery begins as soon as the procedure is finished, but healing is a process rather than a single event.

During the first 24 to 48 hours, it's normal to notice a white or yellow patch, a healing scab or bandaid, at the treatment site. This is part of normal healing and should not be mistaken for an infection. Mild fussiness, tenderness, or swelling can also be expected during the first few days.

We'll provide detailed instructions for stretching exercises and wound care, since these play an important role in helping the released tissue heal appropriately. Follow-up visits allow us to monitor healing, remove sutures (if placed), answer questions, and provide photobiomodulation (PBM) therapy, which may help support the healing process as part of your post-operative care.

It's also important to understand that improvements in feeding, speech, or oral function aren't always immediate. It is important to know that a frenectomy removes the physical restriction, but muscles often need time to adapt to new movement patterns. That's one reason we work closely with a broad network of local providers, including lactation consultants, craniosacral therapists, myofunctional therapists, speech-language pathologists, and other specialists when appropriate. This collaborative approach helps support the best possible functional outcome rather than focusing only on the procedure itself.

If you have questions during recovery, our team is always available to provide guidance and make sure you're healing as expected.

Aftercare Is an Important Part of the Treatment Process

The frenectomy itself is only one part of treatment. What happens afterward plays an extremely important role in how the tissue heals and how well function improves over time.

Following a tongue-tie or lip-tie release, the body naturally begins healing immediately. Because oral tissues heal quickly, your provider will recommend specific aftercare exercises to help prevent the tissue from forming adhesions while healing progresses. These exercises are a routine part of recovery and help support the long-term success of the procedure.

Before you leave your reservation, our team will demonstrate the recommended stretching technique, explain how often it should be performed, and provide written instructions you can reference at home. If questions come up during recovery, we're always available to help.

Your follow-up reservations are just as important. During these visits, we'll evaluate healing, answer questions, and provide photobiomodulation (PBM) therapy to support the recovery process. By monitoring healing closely, we can help ensure everything is progressing as expected.

Why Collaborative Care Leads to Better Outcomes

A frenectomy removes a physical restriction, but learning to use that new range of motion often takes time. Depending on your situation, additional support may help improve feeding, speech, or oral function after treatment thereby decreasing symptoms.

That's why Cusp Untethered  believes in a collaborative approach to care. Rather than viewing the procedure as a standalone treatment, we work closely with a broad network of trusted providers when appropriate, including:

  • Lactation consultants
  • Craniosacral therapists
  • Myofunctional therapists
  • Speech-language pathologists
  • Occupational and Physical therapists
  • Other healthcare professionals involved in your or your child's care

This communication allows everyone involved to work toward the same functional goals while supporting healing and long-term success.

Whether you're seeking treatment for a nursing infant, an older child, or yourself, our goal is to provide care that extends beyond the procedure itself.
